Nintendo WII MII’s Are The Best! But they Need to Interact More!

JEWELZ HAND.jpgOkay,  How could I have so much to say about video games these days?

Well, my kid has been playing Playstation since he was 6 years  old.   I have watched  my son  and I have played for hours.  So  I am not an expert, but you might say that like all young teens —  my son is.

The Nintendo WII is my son’s new game system.  He loves that system.  He still  wants  an  XBOX 360!  I will wait to purchase it.  Right now it is too expense for a poor single parent like myself.

There are little people inside of the NINTENDO WII CALLED MIIS…LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THEM:

THE MIIS ARE CUTE….I HAVE MADE SO MANY VARIETIES OF THOSE LITTLE PEOPLE AND NAMED THEM AFTER PEOPLE I KNOW.  The MIIS  are funny because you can  create them by picking clothing color, complexion, weight, height and facial features.  The bonce out to the “floor” and start to mingle with all of your other created people.  They look at you, and each other.  They have these silly “know absolutely nothin” looks on their little faces!  They are so cute.

You can click on them individually and they stop walking and then turn around and look at you and his or head gets big so you can really see their facial expressions!  That is so funny!

Sometimes they look  a little annoyed because you are stopping them from walking….I guess.

I like that part of the WII MIIs!   I want them to really interact…like talk out loud and eat, or cook food, or go to work….real interaction!

I hope they develop that trend over the next year!

I get a real kick out of them.  I noticed that the hand control for the WII has a heavy vibrate and it seems good to hold –not slippery.

My son has told me that the swinging motion on the WII for the sports was good.  He played the tennis  and  golf.

My son also received the Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess which has a lot of scary ugly monsters that poor Link has to destroy.

The game is almost like a interactive movie.

There are parts when Link as the dog carries his shadow friend to save her life and meet with Zelda the Princess and get renewed life.

This part of the game is almost like a movie.  I actually felt tension while watching my son play it.

My son loves the DragonBallZ Budokai Tenkaichi that he received for the holiday also– for Playstation2  He loves the fighting.

When his friend Brian comes over to play they always use the “hyperrush”  and shoot beams at each other’s character.

This is the Japanese Anemai.  It is rated Teen and made by Atari.  I paid about $40.00.

Another interesting type of video game for GARAGE BAND thespians is called FUNKMASTERFLEX MUSIC FACTORY —only cost $10.00 at GAMESTOP in GreenAcres Mall,  Valley Stream!!!!  It even came with a USB PORT MICROPHONE…WOW!

My son “played” that and created  two songs so far.  The music styles and beats that are in that system like TECHNO,  JAZZ, FLUTES, ORGAN RIFFS!

This was a gift my son told me he did not want…yet he is here right now playing this game.

It is not a game to me…it is more like music production.  There are various sounds that you can choose from to create your own sound and musical piece.

My son said that in his school,  World Journalism Prepartory they are working on  powerpoint presentation on the Supreme Court.

He was introduced to Garage Bank Production with MAC computer and that he was required to make a piece of music to accompany his powerpoint group presentation.

He was having a little difficulty.  But when he began using and playing the FUNKMASTERFLEX MUSIC FACTORY–he had so much fun and he said it helped him to understand how to use the MAC computer  Garage Band at his school much better.

Alot of educators would probably disagree!  I might have said the same thing myself–except for this recent experience with the FUNKMASTERFLEX MUSIC FACTORY!

…..note:  picture up above is my son–Jay Jewelz– hand in 7th Grade…the hands that have played video games for about 8 years!!!

Theme Music From Video Game “Legend of Zelda” makes me Cry–Why? My fourteen year old son loves it!

CLICK– here for the legend of zelda music. also check smashbros.com music and look for the music there.duckies at playI found that my son continues to play the theme from the Legend of Zelda Video game. It has a classical sound and it is themed with a flute and a delicate harp arpeggio.   The   video game  Legend of Zelda is about  a little  boy called   Link who plays the flute and has to go through various routes  and adentures to save the Princess in the game.

Zelda  and the Twilight princess has the  feeling of the knights in shining armour.  Except the actual age of the lead character of “Link” is a 12 year old boy.

Link in the most recent game that I purchased can take the form of a dog.  The dog in the video game reminds my son of his favorite dog Angel that we had to give to the ASPCA when we moved a year ago into our new place.

We are  renting and I had no one to give the dog to in such short time.  We still mourn the loss of our dear sweet Angel.

Link as the dog fights different villians throughout the game, while this very touching classical flute   and oboe themed music plays gently in the background

But what is making me cry–literally  cry is that my son who has been having a certain medical condition since he was 12 years old (like the character Link that he loves so much!)  has now found a way from the computer to play the various theme music to the Legend of Zelda.

Twilight princess music contantly  plays  whenever my son  is doing his homework.

Before he was just playing rap music, like Snoop Dog, T-Payne, Common, and 50 Cent and other rappers of that type.

But suddenly the beautiful classical sound of the theme music to the Legend of Zelda is  played throughout my house.

It is beautiful and touching theme music that is played throughout the video game, in the form of “marche’s, suites, etc.

It is touching to me  because I play the classical orchestral cello with pieces from   classical composers such as  Mozart, Bethtoven, Brahms, etc.

I love the classics.  But did you think that such beautiful music would  come from a video game?

It is modern classical music.   Ever think that video game makers would realize the impact of the theme music (  on 12 year old to fourteen year  old)  might have?

My son  has been sick recently and it seems to be the only thing he keeps playing from the nice strong bass and acoustic music amps that are hooked up to my computer.

He has placed it within the computer memory and now it continues to play even while he is asleep.

When my son suffered a seizure two weeks ago, he had been looking at the computer and reading information on the video game Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess and then he had suffered his medical emergency.

The music had nothing to do with his sickness….but it seems that he plays that Zelda music more since he got sick.

It seems to comfort him.  He loves that game.  His peditrician told me that my son’s condition has nothing to do with the video games that he plays. Strange huh?

So this music from that game has a two fold affect on me….it is beautifully written, and my son keeps playing it at every given chance he has.

Understand, he goes to highschool and he is attending a college board school. He is very bright.

So why this attraction to that theme music to that video game.

Oh, well, at least I   get a break from 50 Cent, Lil’ Kim, and even Kanye West for that matter!

Till next blog
